The working pressure range of Hydrogen Compressors varies in different applications. Here are some common application areas:

Chemical industry:

Hydrogenation reaction: Generally requires a pressure of 10-50 MPa. For example, in petroleum hydrogenation refining, in order to fully react hydrogen with oil and remove impurities, hydrogen is usually compressed to 10-20 MPa; In some hydrogenation reactions of fine chemicals, such as the synthesis of certain pharmaceutical intermediates, high pressure of 30-50 MPa may be required.

Synthetic ammonia: In the synthetic ammonia process, hydrogen reacts with nitrogen to produce ammonia, usually requiring a hydrogen compressor to increase the hydrogen pressure to around 15-30 MPa.

Methanol synthesis: In this reaction, hydrogen reacts with carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide to produce methanol, and the working pressure of the hydrogen compressor is generally 510MPa.

Energy industry:

Hydrogen storage and transportation: When compressing and storing hydrogen in high-pressure gas cylinders or transportation pipelines, the pressure range is usually 15 50 MPa. For example, the common hydrogen long tube trailer transportation generally has a filling pressure of 20-25MPa; For some underground hydrogen storage facilities, in order to increase hydrogen storage density, hydrogen gas may be compressed to 30 50 MPa.

Fuel cell vehicle hydrogen refueling station: In order to meet the hydrogen demand of fuel cell vehicles, the hydrogen compressor in the refueling station needs to compress the hydrogen pressure to 35MPa or 70MPa, which are currently the two commonly used hydrogenation pressure standards for fuel cell vehicles.

Metallurgical industry:

Metal smelting and processing: In the process of hydrogen reduction smelting of metals, such as tungsten, molybdenum and other rare metals, the hydrogen pressure needs to be compressed to 515 MPa to provide suitable conditions for the reduction reaction; In the hydrogen treatment process of metal materials, such as hydrogen embrittlement sensitivity testing or hydrogen induced diffusion treatment on some high-strength alloy steels, the working pressure of the hydrogen compressor is generally 310MPa.

The working pressure range of different types of hydrogen compressors

Reciprocating hydrogen compressor: The working pressure range is wide, generally ranging from low pressure (such as around 0.1MPa) to high pressure (up to 35MPa or even higher). For example, common reciprocating hydrogen compressors used in chemical processes include models with a suction pressure of 1.3 MPa and an exhaust pressure of 1.9 MPa, as well as models that can achieve higher pressures such as an exhaust pressure of 70 MPa.

Centrifugal hydrogen compressor: usually suitable for the medium and low pressure range, the suction pressure can generally start from a lower pressure (such as around 0.06MPa), and the discharge pressure is generally between 0.06-12.0MPa (G). However, some large centrifugal hydrogen compressors can also reach higher pressures under specific operating conditions, up to 40MPa.

Diaphragm hydrogen compressor: with a wide pressure range, the intake pressure is generally 0-15MPa, and the exhaust pressure can range from 0.5MPa to higher pressures, up to 100MPa. In common application scenarios, the exhaust pressure is mostly below 45MPa, such as 22MPa, 25MPa, etc.

Screw type hydrogen compressor: generally used in medium and low pressure applications, its working pressure is usually around 0.1-3.0 MPa.
